Campaign Celebration 2021 – Press Release

(Moncton, NB – April. 7, 2022) – The United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick is excited to celebrate the efforts of everyone that helped them throughout this past year. With the support and hard work of the community, we are celebrating the accomplishment of raising $2,204,169.95.

This campaign has been challenging, to say the least, but we have seen so many people step up. We’ve seen creative fundraising, and our partners have worked hard to promote their campaigns and to continue to share the work that our United Way does in the community.

We set out with a fundraising goal of $2.2 million but raised an incredible $2,204,169.95. Because of the community’s support and generous contributions to the United Way Community Fund in 2021, we can provide funding
to 22 essential programs delivered through 21 agencies in our community. These are services that change lives – and services that save lives.

Every day, people in our community fight for a better life for themselves and for their loved ones. These people rely on essential programs funded by United Way to help them towards a better future.

“We’re grateful to live in a community that truly cares about helping one another; and to work with a group of tireless supporters. When we launched our campaign, we made a call to increase our local love for this region we call home. For our communities facing issues like mental health, food insecurity, poverty, social isolation, and homelessness – issues worsened by the continued pandemic,” said Sallaj. “The community heard our call and stepped up in very big ways. It’s inspiring. It’s local love at its best.”

Campaign Chair Philip Sallaj celebrates the local love our community has shown, with generosity, compassion, and care to support the community’s most vulnerable citizens struggling with issues exacerbated
by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This campaign is a beautiful reflection of our region – a region with a big heart, a region filled with people who care deeply about their neighbours and are committed to building strong communities,” says Mischka Jacobs, Resource Development at United Way. “This campaign reflects not only what’s possible when we come together, but the difference we can all make. It’s local love in action.”

The local United Way annual fundraising campaign, which runs primarily from September through December, raises money mainly through workplace payroll deduction programs, as well as through individual and corporate contributions and special events. All funds contributed to the United Way Community Fund are invested locally in Southeastern New Brunswick.
