(Moncton, NB – Sept. 24, 2020) – The United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick kicked off their 2020 campaign virtually today with a goal to raise $2,000,000 to support critical services and programs in the local community.
Campaign chair Philip Sallaj underscored the importance of this year’s efforts as the community’s most vulnerable citizens struggle with issues exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Those who are already vulnerable to issues like mental health challenges, homelessness and poverty are being hit even harder,” said Sallaj. “We need to work together to build a stronger community for everyone.”
The local United Way annual fundraising campaign, which primarily runs from September through December, raises money mainly through workplace payroll deduction programs, as well as through individual and corporate contributions and special events. All funds contributed to the United Way Community Fund are invested locally in Southeastern New Brunswick.
Founded in 1953, the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization that brings people and resources together to improve lives in our region.
